Design for all for eInclusion

Objective

The CA aims to support networking for Design for All in Europe, in order to promote inclusion by advancing DfA practices in the Information Society, and in particular though contribution to the efforts of EDeAN towards the implementation of the eInclusion priorities and the eEurope 2005 - 2010 Action Plans. On the basis of the creation and development of innovative Design for All communities, like EDeAN, it is now uniquely possible to establish thoroughly those aspects that work best and those which can be either refined or replaced, better to achieve the EU's goals of eInclusion through DfA.

Therefore, the core of this CA is to explore and evaluate the EDeAN environment in order to create enhanced coordination actions to achieve new levels of eInclusion, coherence, effectiveness and efficiency to boost the role of the EU in eInclusion. From a technological perspective, the main aim of CA DfA@eInclusion is to support and enhance the networking and cooperation activities of the European Design for All (DfA) community, emphasizing the overall target of eInclusion, which is to ensure that future technological developments are user-based and, therefore, take into account the needs and requirements of all citizens, including people with disabilities and elderly people. Towards this end, the proposed CA builds upon, supports and extends past, and ongoing initiatives, such as the "European Design for All e-accessibility Network" - EdeAN, as well as and some IST funded projects that have been realized in the context of the EC FP 5 (e.g.,IST-2001-38833 D4ALLnet, IST- 2001-38786 IDCnet).
