Objective
INDIAMENTOR is a strategic initiative aiming at reinforcing Euro-Indian co-operation in IT research and at increasing the participation of Indian organisations in FP7. India is one of the INCO priorities for Europe and INDIAMENTOR fully complements both the political and the operational frameworks of co-operation with India. INDIAMENTOR is articulated on two axes of activities targeting two groups of stakeholders: on the one hand the recently nominated Indian NCP with its network of support organisations.
On the other hand the vast IT community composed by universities, research centres, companies, SMEs and other entities carrying out IT research activities. These two sets of activities are mutually interrelated and pivotal to the success of the project. Actions involving the support organisations intend to strengthen the networking of the Indian NCP with Indian support organisations covering different IT constituencies and geographical areas of India on one side and promote the networking capacity of the Indian NCP and its network with European NCPs on the other side. Activities directed towards the IT constituency aim at making Indian research organisations aware about the opportunities arising from the ICT programme in FP7 and able to elaborate their research performance offer to potential European counterparts.
This process goes through mentoring workshops (7) meant as "awareness events" and through a well structured follow up. This is of special importance to ensure that there is no loss of "momentum" after the events and that Euro-Indian co-operation is supported on a regular basis. The whole action involves a group of 4 Indian partners representing significant stakeholders of the Indian IT industry and research communities, with the participation of two European partners, one NCP and one currently leading strategic co-operation activities with India.
