Modelling Metadata

Objective

- outline of a general methodology for the study and modelling of metadata; - classifications for metadata; - formal language for modelling metadata; - prototype.
A prototype that directly links knowledge to task execution has been developed in an statistical analysis system (SAS) environment. It has proved to be feasible and promising to formalize metadata for 2 different tasks and to encapsulate it into computer systems. A general methodology for the study and modelling of metadata has been developed. A classification scheme has been devised and a formal modelling language constructed.

The technical approach incorporates the choice of 2 domains, functional requirements analysis and conceptual modelling.
Technical approach : - choice of 2 domains; - functional requirements analysis; - software engineering techniques to construct conceptual models. Expected impact : The implementation will use existing statistical software. A prototype will be realized.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
