Promoting science and research in Bosnia and Herzegovina
European Researchers’ Night in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) boasts a national and cross-border character. It involves researchers from BiH and the Balkan region. In this context, the EU-funded RiNG-21 project will bring together researchers and the general public. As a flagship project in terms of science promotion in BiH, it will increase awareness of research and innovation, demonstrate the scientific achievements of local researchers and research-driven entrepreneurs and their impact on society. RiNG-21 will also encourage young people to engage in scientific careers. The related activities will be organised in more than 10 cities throughout BiH, both online and on-site.
Objective
"The European Researchers' Night in Bosnia and Herzegovina 2021 (RiNG-21) aims to bring researchers closer to the general public and to shape deeper connection between research, creativity and entrepreneurship. RiNG-21 is a flagship science promotion event in BiH while continuing to work on increasing awareness of research and innovation potentials in BiH, supporting public recognition of researchers and promoting achievements by local scientists and research-driven entrepreneurs, addressing research impact on people's daily life, and encouraging young people to embark on research careers.
Shortly, main objectives are: Enhance researchers' public recognition; Increase awareness about research results, especially regarding the daily lives of citizens; Stimulate interest in research careers, in particular amongst young people facing a career choice.
RiNG-21 slogan is ""Beyond the Horizon"", dedicating 2021 edition to highlighting the skills and knowledge needed to prepare for the future, as well to put a spotlight on the cutting-edge research. RiNG-21 is a multidisciplinary STEAM event, aiming to highlight people in Science, Technology, Entrepreneurship, Arts and Makers in BiH and Western Balkan region. RiNG-21 is a science festival of national character, involving coordinated actions in at least ten cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and incorporates cross-border aspect by involving researchers and research-driven business from the Balkan region as participants in RiNG activities. Due to coronavirus, the main event will be held online with smaller scale on-site activities in the participating cities.
RiNG-21 is aiming to reach over 1 million people during awareness raising campaign and involve at least 26.000 participants in the organized online and in-person events during 2021 by including at least ten cities across BiH in the implementation of the European Researchers' Night activities."
