Project description
A chatbot for youth mental health support
A pressing issue looms over the mental well-being of adolescents (aged 13-20). With up to 70 % of young individuals failing to receive adequate professional help, barriers such as negative stigmas, overwhelmed healthcare systems, and a lack of digital solutions hinder access to support. In this context, the EU-funded MindGuide project offers a unique interactive platform aimed at addressing youth mental health concerns. Utilising a chatbot, the system detects potential mental health conditions and provides tailored clinical treatment suggestions. It also assists users in connecting with the recommended resources. Additionally, the platform conducts follow-ups to assess the effectiveness of treatments and gather valuable data for continuous improvement. The project aims to expand market understanding and optimise its technical solution.
Objective
There is a significant societal challenge of high levels of mental illness in adolescents (aged 13-20). As many as 70% of young people with mental health conditions do not receive adequate professional help. Negative stigmas associated with being mentally ill; overburdened healthcare systems with long waiting times and a traditional approach that is largely un-digitized are some of the largest barriers to adolescents accessing help.
Zamax founder and CEO, Dr. Lina Klanšek, is a specialist in adolescent psychiatry. She is acutely aware of the obstacles that prevent
young people from accessing mental health support, and is using her knowledge in the field to develop MindGuide.
MindGuide is a unique interactive platform for youth mental health. We are developing a chatbot to detect likely mental health conditions in the user. Based on these results, MindGuide will offer a clinical treatment suggestion, providing connections to access these.
Following the treatment process, MindGuide will conduct a follow-up with the user. Within this, it discovers whether the suggested treatments were engaged with, if they were successful, and if not, why. The data collected in this stage will create a feedback loop to inform and optimise the entire platform, particularly the screening process and the treatments suggested.
Leveraging the proposed BES support, the objectives of the project include:
• Developing and incorporating feedback loop
• Further understanding and developing the market opportunity in the context of latest conditions and drivers and alongside final
technical solution development.
• Refining a detailed and rigorously reviewed business plan.
• Clearly defining the product offer and most effective routes for dissemination to target market/s.
• Establishing clear plans for scaling the business opportunity and operations
