Project description
Innovative app for children with dyslexia
Dyslexia leads to challenges in recognising and processing language sounds, often causing children to reverse letters, experience difficulties in sounding out unfamiliar words and struggle with identifying familiar words. In this context, the EU-funded GoLexic project has introduced an affordable application aimed at enhancing the reading and writing abilities of children dealing with dyslexia. This application employs advanced speech recognition technology to evaluate the individual skills and obstacles of each child, thereby tailoring the program to their specific needs. Distinguished by its utilisation of speech recognition and personalised approach, this digital learning initiative for dyslexic children stands out from other solutions. The primary objective is to ensure that both parents and teachers can access this tool.
Objective
GoLexic is an app that helps children with dyslexia and reading challenges improve their reading and writing skills thanks to an innovative, accessible, effective and affordable solution. It leverages a structured teaching approach developed for dyslexic learners, and uses speech recognition to drive reading practice and assess children's skills and challenges. This in turn drives the personalisation of the programme for each child. This combination of speech recognition and personalisation is a differentiator for GoLexic compared to other digital learning programmes for children with dyslexia. The goal is to scale personalised reading intervention so that parents and teachers have easy access to a robust tool that helps children improve their literacy skills.
