Project description
Establishing Tallinn University as a knowledge centre on security
The Russia-Ukraine war underscores the need for regional security expertise and a comprehensive approach to address current and future challenges towards achieving peaceful outcomes. To this end, the EU-funded CEE Security Hub project aims to establish Tallinn University (TLU) as a leading institutional and knowledge centre on security in the Central and Eastern European (CEE) region. The project will collaborate with Tampere University (TAU) and the University of Copenhagen (UCPH). The CEE Security Hub seeks to consolidate diverse knowledge on security from academia, policymaking, and civil society. It aims to foster expertise through various forums such as research seminars, workshops, and conferences. Additionally, the project will implement knowledge exchange schemes.
Objective
This project establishes Tallinn University (TLU) as a leading institutional and knowledge hub on security in the CEE region in close collaboration with the Tampere University (TAU) and the University of Copenhagen (UCPH). Russias war against Ukraine has demonstrated incontrovertibly that regional expertise in security and the politics of it is essential to tackle the present as well as future security related issues. It has also demonstrated that security needs to be approached with a deeply holistic, intersectional and relational lens to truly provide perspectives and connections between different security contexts and matters that can lead to more peaceful, just and sustainable futures. The CEE security hub will bring together diverse knowledge on security (academia, policymaking and civil society) and create different forums to advance expertise on security, from research seminars, workshops, conferences to various knowledge exchange schemes that enhance intellectual and institutional capacities of the hub and in parallel establish TLU as a valued and in demand security hub for diverse local and international audiences.
