Fault-Tolerant Architectures and Software for Scalable Quantum Computers

Objective

The ascent of quantum computing (QC) has been hindered by a pressing crisis:ensuring fault tolerance in the face of inevitable errors due to hardware imperfections. Small to midsized QC enterprises are particularly vulnerable, lacking resources to field large error-correction teams and develop the required sophisticated design tools, thus lagging large competitors. QCDesign is set to revolutionize the QC landscape. We aim to level the playing field through our unique Fault-Tolerant Architectures (FTAs) and design software. Our innovative approach offers licensable FTAs tailored for diverse QC platforms, from photonics to superconducting qubits. Our dual-licensing model—Blueprints for swift fault-tolerance attainment & Boosts for maximizing hardware performance—empowers QC manufacturers, especially SMEs, with a competitive edge. By backing QCDesign, the EIC would be investing not just in one company, but in Europe's QC ecosystem, ensuring we remain at the forefront of QC innovation.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
