An All-Optical computer for solving Hard Optimization Problems

Objective

LightSolver is developing a new paradigm for computing. We have developed a revolutionary Laser Processing Unit (LPU) that outperforms traditional CPUs and GPUs in specific tasks, such as optimizing supply chains, designing new materials, and managing financial portfolios. This new LPU Laser Processing Unit can process NP-hard problems orders of magnitude faster because it has no electronic gradients inside the processor. This LPU is small as a desktop size, operates at normal conditions, and consumes minimal power. This full-stack unit includes three layers to provide the most accurate solution within the shortest time frame: a user interface, an operating system and Hybrid Hardware. Our proprietary hybrid solver combines an all-optical solver based on a pure laser processing unit (LPU) with a digital enhancement that increases the number of spins (variables) whilst decreasing the complexity of the problem. All industries will benefit from optimization problems, including government, healthcare, financial services, retail, manufacturing, energy and utilities, transportation and logistics, and more. Asset optimization is gaining notable importance in the manufacturing and energy sectors due to the possibility of obtaining real-time data LightSolvers platform offers distinct advantages from competitors:
Faster and More Accurate Solutions
Cost-Effective Manufacturing and Energy Consumption
Cloud Accessibility and On-Premises Capability
Unique Assisting Algorithms
Scalability for Complex Problems

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

LIGHTSOLVER LTD
Net EU contribution

Net EU financial contribution. The sum of money that the participant receives, deducted by the EU contribution to its linked third party. It considers the distribution of the EU financial contribution between direct beneficiaries of the project and other types of participants, like third-party participants.
