6G Vertical trials for Sustainability

Project description

Sustainability through advanced 6G technologies

The global push for sustainability demands innovative solutions that blend technological progress with strategic experimentation. Achieving these outcomes not only requires advanced technology, but also its effective application across diverse industries. Environmental challenges across multiple sectors underscore the need for transformative methodologies that integrate efficiency and sustainability. In this context, the EU-funded 6G-VERSUS project harnesses cutting-edge 6G platforms across Europe to develop sustainable 6G applications. The project introduces a unique triadic approach (vertical apps, network apps, and AI-assisted apps) to improve data flow and decision-making. By conducting trials in five environmentally conscious sectors, 6G-VERSUS highlights the societal, economic, and environmental impact of 6G technologies, paving the way towards a sustainable future.

Objective

The journey towards tangible sustainability outcomes necessitates a fusion of technological advancements with strategic experimentation. In this pursuit, 6G-VERSUS emerges as a pioneering initiative, leveraging cutting-edge 6G research facilities across Europe to explore the frontiers of sustainable technology. Through meticulously designed trials and pilots, 6G-VERSUS addresses pressing challenges in 5 environmentally conscious vertical industries. In this regard, 6G-VERSUS introduces a novel methodology, transforming existing use cases into 6G applications, comprising Vertical App (V-App), Network App (N-App), and AI-assisted App (AI-App). This triadic structure optimizes the data and control planes of 6G systems, facilitating seamless information flow and decision-making processes. With the support of six (Stream C) 6G platforms spanning across Europe, 6G-VERSUS aims to demonstrate the profound sustainable, economic and societal impact of 6G technology, propelling towards a more sustainable and prosperous society.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
