Objective
The main purpose of this action is to apply the state of the art for the software engineering on UNIX workstations, within the object-oriented technology.
The experiment will be made on a software project dedicated to the production of a decision support system for aircraft rotation and scheduling. The prototype resulting from the ESPRIT project PONTIFEX (Esprit 2111) will be a reference for the functional specification.
The process of creation of this system will be supported by the introduction of tools for the Object-Oriented Analysis, Object-Oriented Design & programming, Object-Oriented Data Base Management System, visual programming for graphical user interface, version control and real-time configuration management.
Each of these tools represent an innovation with a considerable impact on the current process technology. Finally the integration and customisation of them with regard to the user company current status of software engineering practice, is the real objective of this action.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
