Advanced Technology to optimize Maritime operational Safety - Intelligent Vessel

Objective

The ATAMOS IV project supports the main political issues of road-to-sea, Short Sea Shipping and Quality Shipping. Primary community benefits are the means to lessen on-shore congestion by applying a safety and cost-benefit regime to current Waterborne operations.

The project provides a methodology for retrofit of the existing European Fleet, and demonstrates this by a full-scale retrofit to a trial vessel. Important technologies include integrated ship control, human-centered design, Formal Safety Assessment and principles-based certification.

ATOMOS IV is proposed by a highly experienced consortium made up a ship owner, a classification society, a national administration, two marine simulation centre, equipment manufacturers, human factors experts, two universities and marine consultants.
