Objective
The aim of EXPEDITE is to produce multi-modal demand forecasts for the years 2005, 2010, 2015, 2020 for all travel in Europe, covering all distance bands for passenger and freight movements, to identify core and competitive submarkets and to identify 'efficient' policies or policy 'bundles' to achieve certain policy aims in the areas of modal shift and intermodality.
EXPEDITE aims will be achieved by merging the results which can be produced by available national transport model systems for passenger and freight demand with the results European passenger and freight transport models. EXPEDITE is designed to provide scenario-specific forecasts for passenger and freight together with analyses to identify core/competitive sub-markets within the broader picture of O/D flows and to highlight the policy sensitivity of the submarkets to different policies.
