Objective
To develop pre-prototypes of gas fired heating boiler systems in the power range from 400kW to 4MW, which have a thermal efficiency of 95% ghv and emit less than 20mg/kWh NOx. The systems consist of a cascade of 400kW-modules and have a tele-control system via Internet or GSM with the Central Tele-servicing Office for control and maintenance and for optimising the heat production in combination with e.g. renewable sources and CHP.
Very compact boilers are aimed by the integration of heat exchangers and radiant burners made of ceramic foams and of woven/knitted metal fibre mats. Two boiler pre-prototypes comprising of a horizontal flat burner and a vertical cylindrical burner will be developed and tested. A new type of metallic burner mat will be developed that might lead to even more economic burners. Heat exchanger tubes will be developed which are optimised for the heat transfer by radiation and convection.
