Tradable renewable certificate know-how and initiatives network

Objective

Background Tradable Renewable Certificate (TRC) systems have been developed in several countries (particularly in Europe, USA and Australia. TRC-systems provide a robust mechanism for tracking and verification and they potentially offer an efficient and flexible economic tool.

The TRC-systems that are currently being developed are bottom-up approaches, which are not mutually harmonised. Little is known about system-details, other than by those who have initiated them, although a huge amount of information is available.

Aims: The aim of the project is to disclose available TRC-know-how for governments and the private sector, in a structured way, by joining the forces of the current TRC-networks in an international network.

Sub-goals of the project are:
(1) acceleration of access of developing countries and economies in transition to the network,
(2) answering of major TRC-questions by means of specific research
