Clear data for clean fuels

Objective

In many countries there is an increasing interest in bio-fuels as a clean and renewable source of energy. There is also a growing international concern on the lack of transparency of bio-fuel data as the information collected by the various actors differs substantially in structure and methodology. It is considered that clear data on availability and performance of bio-fuels are essential for sound (investment) decisions of users, suppliers and intermediates in the field of bio-fuel utilisation.

The objective of the proposed action is to compile a structured and transparent data structure for bio-fuels, using existing information sources and based on consensus of the various stakeholders on aspects as measurements, calculation methodology, reference fuel chain, by-products, environmental performance, CO2 effects and economics.
