Objective
High energy density sorption heat storage enables a major technological break-through for the wider penetration and capacity utilisation of renewable energy, low temperature waste heat and heat from co-generation into European energy systems. The main objective of the present project is to develop a second generation prototype of high energy density heat storage which is adapted to market demands in different European applications. The project is based on the technical achievements of the previous project HYDES.
The main features of the newly developed prototypes will be:
- Modular design in order to operate in a wide variety of applications
- Integration of key components (evaporator / condenser and the reactor) into one single container
- Factory pre-fabrication of the storage system resulting in a straight forward installation
