Objective Stickstoffsteigerungsversuch zur Ermittlung des N-Beitrages von Weissklee zur Ertragsleistung von bestandesbildenden, konkurrierenden Graesern als Feldversuch. The contribution of white clover (Trifolium repens) to the nitrogen supply of grassland was studied in a combination of pot and field experiments. It was found that white clover varieties showed different depressions in biological nitrogen fixation (BNF) when receiving nitrogen fertilizer treatments.Results of the Plant Protein Resources Programme 1979 to 1983 were confirmed in that circa 240 kg N ha{1}y{1} has to be applied on grassland without clover to reach the yield equivalent to that in the unfertilized variants with clover, corresponding with an increased dry matter yield of 60% and a 5% higher crude protein content.Attempts were also made to study some external (environmental) effects on BNF; the short period of the contract did not allow definite conclusions on the persistency of clover under different soil and weather conditions.Untersuchungsprogram: .
