Regional Innovation Strategy for Central Switzerland

Objective

The RISforCCH project addresses the Call: FP6-2004-INNOV-4, specifically for the definition and deployment of Regional Innovation Strategies (RIS) in Associated Countries. Its focus is on the coordination of RIS for the six cantons of Central Switzerland . It has gained support for this important initiative from the key industrial and political organisations and personalities in the region and, for optimum efficiency, has specifically incorporated the support of 3 similar EU regions (Abruzzo, the Basque Country and Tirol) that will bring RIS experience to the project. RISforCCH will build a high level of awareness throughout the region about the importance of innovation; it will foster an innovation culture, and optimise the innovation supply system. Pa rticular business sectors to be targeted are the micro technology industry and tourism, with a specific aim to develop strategies to overcome innovation barriers, to use succession planning as a window for innovation within SMEs, and to promote start-ups by women. The consortium has been selected to have all the skills and networking contacts necessary to meet the ambitious objectives. The management will be performed by a professional team with international collaboration experience, and will employ th e latest tools. The Steering Group is comprised of distinguished persons with excellent reputations. The EU-funded resources are supplemented with a substantial proportion of own budget, representing a solid commitment from the partners to the project.
