High Quality in Milling Technologies of Moulds and Dies

Objective

The objective of the HIQU project is to significantly increase surface quality and accuracy of the milling process for moulds and dies.

The work will include the development of:

- algorithms for compensation of static errors and errors caused by tool cutting stress
- tool-shape measuring devices and a tool monitoring system
- new tracer and copying algorithms, and a new 6-axis copy-milling system, together with methods and algorithms for correcting digitised files
- a computer-aided system for machine data acquisition, diagnosis, and the elaboration of optimisation parameters.

The results will be applicable within the machine tool and the die and mould industries. They will be incorporated in controls and machine tools marketed by consortium members.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
