Collision Avoidance and Space Surveillance Innovations for Orbital Protection in Earth Environment

Objective

Through CASSIOPEE, SMS tackles the ever pressing challenge of collision risk management the space industry stakeholders are currently facing. SMS aims to disrupt space surveillance, thanks to its in-novative offering, optical observation stations - based on a patented architecture and proprietary satellite collision prediction algorithms. SMS ambition is to become the first player offering an inde-pendent catalogue of more than 100,000 space debris smaller than 10 cm, and therefore challenge US Air Force monopolistic position.
Having access to such cartography is critical to improve space safety in a currently fast-developing landscape in orbital activities. SMSs catalogue and services address all space actors needs : New Space players, satellite operators, industry majors, Space Agencies. SMS purpose is protect opera-tors from of assets losses and performance variations, preserve modern way of life, and ultimately guarantee space exploration remains possible.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: https://op.europa.eu/en/web/eu-vocabularies/euroscivoc.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
