Energy and communications user services (multimedia) field trials of developed home systems to European hs (EHS) protocols and specifications

Objective

The project has six main objectives, as follows:

- To converge the CELECT (Control ELECTric) UK load management system with the European Home Systems (EHS) standards, integrating multimedia technologies (communication gateways) for interactive value-added services (VAS) to customers
- To extend the results of HS-COMPONENTS (EP 6782) to pilot studies of energy controllers using the EDF Tempo tariff. Additionally, gateways and controllers for white goods are to be developed.
- To extend the results of IDEA-TV (EP 7525) for:

(i) load management functions
(ii) value-added services which are compliant with the EHS architecture.
- To establish a specification for interoperation of products with safety constraints.
- To develop tele-action management functions for VAS through PSTN and external PLC
- To develop external PLC gateways for load management functions.
