Exploitable results
An interactive, multimedia compact disc read only memory (CD Rom) on European Community (EC) folk culture has been developed. The disc comprises music and songs, text, video, festivals, contributers and contacts, and quizzes. The following skills were used to compose the disc:
image capture using music sheets and photos;
text capture using optical character reader (OCR);
music writing using Finale;
music capture from CD and cassette using windows 3.1 multimedia extensions;
authoring using Authorware Professional;
CD Rom writing using CD Rom writer.
A prototype was made available on 15/04/94
The operating environment is as follows :
MPC (multimedia PC), Windows 3.1 or Windows '95.
The following know how and skills in multimedia authoring have been developed:
multimedia authoring using Authorware Professional;
sound capture and editing using windows 3.1 multimedia extensions and a sound card;
image capture using a scanner and image editing using Fototouch;
video capture using a video camera and a video capture card;
text capture using an optical character reader (OCR) package Catchword; Professional music writing using Finale;
compact disc read only memory (CD Rom) writing using a CD Rom writer.
The operating environment is as follows :
Multimedia personal computer (MPC), under Windows 3.1 or '95.
