Moving into the genomics of marine biodiversity

Objective

The Station Biologique de Roscoff (SBR) is a research and training center in marine biology and oceanography, jointly operated by the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique and by the Université Pierre -et-Marie Curie. The SBR missions are to promote research and academic education on biology of marine organisms and ecosystem. The SBR has adopted a leading stance in promoting genomics approaches on marine models and ecosystems. This EST programme is thus designed to provide European pre-doctoral fello ws with advanced, interdisciplinary training programme in marine biology, with an emphasis on genomics, genetics and structural biology. The SBR will also host short stay scientists who want to be trained in such areas as sequencing and transcriptomics/bio informatics and proteomics/3-D structure determination. Based both on research and technology training in the Institute¿s research groups and core services and on an integrated curriculum of specific courses and workshops, ESTeam will accelerate the socia l and professional integration of the Marie Curie fellows at the SBR and reinforce their professionalism and competitiveness as future European researchers. Practically, this will be achieved as follows: and) make sure that the incoming young researchers i n the SBR are rapidly integrated, both scientifically and culturally, with a special attention to gender issues, and make them to grasp as soon as possible the full extent of the scientific opportunities which are offered at the marine station and through its collaborative networks; é) give a high attention to their research projects, including through external mentoring; 3) provide them with a complementary training to overcome the obstacles to mobility and to raise their professional profile; 4) give them a general awareness on general issues in marine biological sciences; 5) and give them the possibility to become familiar with the technical skills associated with modern biology.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
