Objective
The proposed method consists on application of sea water as coolant of urban A/C units. This will be achieved by a district piping network, distributing sea-water to urban cooling facilities operating with electrically or heat driven chillers in Residential, Commercial or Public use (i.e. airports, stations, etc). The energetic and environmental advantages of this system are due to the operation at lower temperatures, resulting in higher COP, compared to the conventional units.
The environmental impact refers to a sharp drop of pollution and no overheating of the cities ambient air due to the no rejection of heat. By using this system, the urban aesthetics are improved, since the chillers can be installed indoors. Finally, the sustainable development will be secured, since cooling will become cheaper.
