Objective
The proposed accompanying measures will explore the opportunities offered by energy technologies within the framework of the commitments endorsed as a result of global warming mitigation negotiations. Environmental concerns are gaining importance in the set-up of the EU's energy technology policy. The basic objectives of the accompanying measure ate to support the European negotiating positions with consensual forecasts on technological progress, energy savings and carbon emissions, to provide European actors (Member States, utilities, energy companies, capital equipment suppliers etc.) with an overview on future market deployments and the opportunities raised by carbon emission reduction targets, and to provide clues toward a sounder world-wide energy technology deployment policy.
