European Networking for Financing Food Innovation

Objective

The ENFFI project clearly aims at identifying, analysing and addressing the food and nutrition sector-specific innovation finance issues. ENFFI will set up and mobilise a European network involving relevant actors for food innovation financing, by taking advantage of the extensive European networking and relationships already built up by the ENNFI consortium partners who represent complementary expertise such as specialised food equity funds and other innovation financing professional, agro-business incubators, food firms, university spin-offs and start-up companies, as well as national food and drink federations from ten member States and food specialised institutes.

Furthermore the consortium operates with an extensive network of European Regional Offices representing Regional Local Governments, which will ensure effective dissemination to policy authorities. The ENFFI project will benefit from the significant involvement of several Danish innovation actors from the food sector, being Denmark the EU innovation leading Member State in the food sector according to the sector European Innovation Scoreboard. This will ensure the transfer of best practices and lessons learnt on success factors to other food innovation actors and innovation financing professionals throughout Europe Synergies with existing projects and networks already developed in the framework of the Gate2Growth initiative will be sought from the initial steps of the ENFFI project.

This will be facilitated by the current and direct involvement of one of the ENFFI innovation financing professional partner, Brabo Ventures, in the management of the 'InvestorNet' Gate2 Growth network. By developing new methodological approaches and procedures for promoting innovation financing in the food sector in a European context, the ENFFI project aims to profoundly influence the way European decision-makers in the food sector approaches the topic of innovation.
