An ATM network for a workstation cluster with connections to an external metropolitan area network was installed and commissioned at a SME (Reverse Engineering). The network was audited for security and remedial actions were taken to close any weakness found. Network experiments were performed to quantify the expected speed up of data transfer of ATM over Ethernet. Experiments were performed using the network cluster to execute series of simulations with the application LS-DYNA3D. Additional work was also performed on a Fujitsu VPX/240 vector machine to determine simulation run times. All simulations were assessed for numerical stability.
