Final Report Summary - SEMISYNTHESIS (Semisynthesis of caged a-Syn) The primary objective of this project is to develop and optimise semisynthetic approaches that allow site-specific modification of a-synuclein with emphasis on applying these approaches to understand the role of post-translational modifications in regulating a-synuclein function in health and disease. The candidate had already started working on this project before the initiation of this grant and made progress towards completing the Semisynthesis of C-terminal phosphorylated a-synuclein. During the five week period she was supported on this grant, she continued to work on the expression and purification of some of the peptides and recombinant proteins required for preparing thephosphorylated proteins. The last week she spent on organising her materials and preparing a summary report on what she had done.
