Rapid access to technological knowledge in a virtual enterprise

Objective

In the field of developing castings, simultaneous engineering is an important requirement, and easy exchange of different data and information is essential. Often SMEs can economically compete in a centralised market only by forming strategic alliances. Therefore the aim of the project is to elaborate the IT to cooperate efficiently in a virtual enterprise.

The project will establish a communication base for SMEs while developing high-tech castings. Since the partners already work together, the intention is to concentrate activities to establish a virtual enterprise. The network will enable the participants to exchange and manage experiences and know-how in the following fields : economy, technology, organisation, and innovation.

The advantages of close cooperation prior to setting up the virtual enterprise, for the SMEs are:
- larger investment potential as a group
- acceptance of extensive orders for the company-pool
- concentration and extension of know-how
- delegation and exchange of capacities between the partners
- more economical and broader acquisition through every partner for all partners

The cooperating partners (SMEs currently working in the area of the development and manufacturing of castings) will agree upon the following:
- analysis and evaluation of relevant data and information
- evaluation of know-how to be transmitted
- evaluation of disposed performances (i.e. manpower etc .)

An external IT enterprise will carry out the following tasks:
- modelling data describing the topics suitable for storage and communication in modern IT systems
- assemble existing technological data in cooperation with specialists of the partners
- specification of necessary hard and software equipment
- installation and operation of central communication servers

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
