Textiles and the information

Objective

The object of this action is to organise and hold an international conference on the theme of Textiles and the Information Society, in Thessaloniki, Greece. The primary aim of the conference is to promote an awareness of the many opportunities provided by the application of IT to each stage of the textile pipeline from fibre engineering to fashion retailing. Building on such awareness, the second aim will be to promote cooperation across national, sectoral and occupational boundaries.

Under the leadership of the Textile Institute, the world's leading international professional society covering all aspects of fibre, yarns, fabrics, clothing and other consumer and technical products, this conference will focus on how the textile industry can make use of the powerful tools now available. A special thrust will be the cooperative opportunities between the Balkan region and Western Europe. New value-adding approaches to product marketing, design and development will be discussed by the world's leading companies, scientists and academics. A special internet site will allow participants to continue their discussions in depth for 3 months after the conference itself closes.
