Objective
ORBIT is a two year programme of interactive training and dissemination events in the EU and Eastern Europe. It is designed to increase the awareness of senior executives in the process industries as to the major manufacturing advantage to be achieved by strategic investment in advanced IT solutions. The programme of ten conferences, conducted under international business school conditions and including a specially written case study, will enable managers to identify their own business drivers and the necessary steps to developing the most effective business processes underpinned by flexible, open architecture IT solutions. Well defined IT investment plans, produced by user companies participating in the ORBIT programme will provide essential guidance to IT suppliers who have already expressed strong support for this user-driven approach. Endorsed under the PRIMA cluster of projects with shared technology brokerage, ORBIT should lead to a greatly increased uptake of IT solutions emerging from ESPRIT projects.
