Objective
The objective of GEOINDEX is to :
1. Conduct a feasibility study of creating a platform for integrating information in existing databases with a dynamic map based three-dimensional index.
2. Perform a market analysis in order to define and quantify the potential demand for and impact of such a platform.
The platform will allow developers, authors etc. of SMEs as well as super users of larger organisations to create specific applications for searching and displaying data from existing sources in a user freindly manner.
The platform gives an opportunity to create relationships between external databases from different providers.
The platform will also give the opportunity to display the result of these queries on 3D maps.
The display tools will therefore have the ability to integrate vector and bitmap information in various cartographic projections and combine them with elevation data to give the ability to display the results in 3D fly through.
Throughout the years numerous organizations have undertaken the task of collecting tremendous amounts of alphanumeric and map data. It is obvious that society would benefit from an easy and standardised method of accessing and integrating this data.
GEOINDEX will investigate which specific tools are needed in order to meet such a
market requirement.
GEOINDEX will additionally quantify the size and segment of such a potential market.
