Objective Within the Clean Sky JTI, the use of a nanocomposite material for primary structures of a Green Regional Aircraft is going to be thoroughly studied and analysed. The nano-filler modified matrix have a great potential to exhibit high performance in terms of thermal, mechanical and electrical properties. The objective of AIT is to manufacture nanomodified resins to fulfil the requirements of the Clean Sky roadmap. In a first step, nanoparticles will be selected among nanoclays (both cationic and anionic clays), POSS, carbon nanofibres (Vapour Grown Carbon Fibres) and multi-wall carbon nanotubes. Then AIT will benefit of its experience in nanotechnology to set-up the dispersion methods, to produce batches of modified resin (8 different types are planed), to set up the curing parameter, to produce samples and finally, to characterize them. The proposed test campaign will investigate the chemical, physical, morphological, thermal and mechanical properties. The dissemination and exploitation of the result will be assure by the management Team in close communication and collaboration with the ITD leaders and other CS-RTD partners.
