Objective
The objective of IMPRO is to demonstrate how the results of the TIQS (EP 8180) project can be used to assist the adoption of Total Quality Management (TQM) beyond the ISO 9000 stage in users from two different sectors. TIQS focused on improving quality management systems in SMEs. This demonstration action is aimed at showing the innovative aspects of the TIQS results and how the users can benefit in terms of improved business processes. The innovations are in the methodology guiding users in developing a quality management system focused on the business processes rather than standards and supporting business in improving their performance beyond the basic ISO 9000 standard.
Coopers and Lybrand Galgano will act as users by using TIQS as a consultancy tool for use in industrial companies. Nuclenor, a power generating company will provide a demonstrator in this important industry to show the benefits of using TIQS to organise the business quality management system of a medium sized company. Turbocam, a sub-contract machining company will provide a demonstrator in the metal products sector to show the business benefits of using TIQS in a small company. KISS will be the IT provider for the adaptation, integration with existing company information systems and IT training.
The project will start with extensive demonstration of the TIQS results to the users. The full requirements of the two users and consultants will be detailed and checked. The implementation of the TIQS system and the training strategy will then be planned. Extensive training will be conducted with the users and the consultants. The TIQS system will be modified to comply with the specific industry needs and the Continuous Improvement Planning module will be enhanced. TIQS will be implemented in the two industrial users and loaded on the consultants portables. Validation of the TIQS system will then be conducted to assess the impact of the TQS system in improving the business processes of the industrial users and the consultants' clients. As a result of the feedback (mainly from the consultants) the TIQS exploitation will be refined. Six workshops will be held to disseminate the results in conjunction with other dissemination activities.
