Objective
The overall objective of the project is a two-fold one
(i) to run a Scenario Workshop in given RI area as a preparatory step for introducing Foresight in RIs policy formulation, and
(ii) to scope foresight guidelines to support prospective future foresight initiatives targeting the RI domain.
Specific project objectives: to pilot a foresight exercise including the organization of a Success Scenario Workshop in the Food, Agriculture and Biotechnology area of RIs as a pilot area and the development of 3-4 contrasting scenarios; to elaborate policy recommendations for more extensive use of Foresight in RIs; to develop guidelines for scoping further foresight studies.
The project runs through the following three stages:
Stage 1: Data collection and assessment of key drivers in the exemplar RI area - collecting existing data on the selected RI domain, identification of key trends and issues, and assessment and prioritisation of key drivers.
Stage 2: Running a Success Scenario Workshop in the pilot RI domain with the objective to come up with a feasible success scenario of 10 years ahead along with a basic policy roadmap. Prior to the workshop baseline scenarios will be prepared as to serve as a starting point of the workshop.
Stage 3: Development of Guidelines to Foresight in RIs. This incorporates elaboration of draft policy recommendations for more extensive use of Foresight in this area and elaboration of a Guide to Foresight in RIs oriented towards shaping integrated RIs of European significance.
