e-Infrastructures reflection group support programme

Objectif

The e-IRGSP project will provide a basis for the work of the e-Infrastructure Reflection Group (e-IRG) and increase its impact. The e-IRG was founded in 2003 under the Greek EU chairmanship to coordinate and support the creation of a framework - political, technological and administrative - for the easy and cost-effective shared use of distributed electronic resources across Europe. e-IRG consists of official government delegates from all 25 EU countries, accession countries and associated countries. e-IRG provides a neutral platform to filter, transfer and upgrade (technical, economic and other) knowledge and visions to a shared policy level. e-IRG is also committed to interfacing with the relevant standardisation organisations. e-IRG tries to create the circumstances for the wide patchwork of projects and initiatives to converge into a European Research Grid infrastructure.

The e-IRGPSP project will deliver support and continuity for the coordinating work of the e-IRG, through operational support (a secretariat), a core editorial team for its white papers and other publications (such as the roadmap) and helping e-IRG gather structured information about the current state of affairs in a Knowledge Base. e-IRGSP will stimulate the policy work of the e-IRG within the enlarging community of e-Infrastructure practitioners, supporting international collaboration between national and European organizations and standardisation initiatives (e.g. ESFRI, GGF, IETF, W3C, WS-I, ICTSB).
