Network oriented application harmonisation

Objective

The aim of NOAH is to provide enabling technologies to support the emergence of the market for Open Distributed Industrial System (ODIS).

The research will cover,
- Fieldbus communication harmonisation for software portability;
- Distributed system resources description for interoperability and integration of field devices;
- Closing the gap between general system specification and specific system design;
- Validation in a trial pilot.
NOAH's business objectives are,
- Increased use of fieldbus-based systems by removing market hinderances;
- Broader use of products (ODIS);
- Reduced engineering costs;
- Opening the market for maintenance and management tools;
- Putting European industry at the forefront of open automation technology.
Resulting specifications will be transformed into standards, under the CENELEC initiative, and active dissemination will be carried out, to potential users i.e. systems integrators, as well as providing SMEs with the opportunity and capacity to engineer ODIS.
