Morphotectonic Map of European Lowland Area

Objective

This project is concentrated on creating a new research team in the Polish Geological Institute that will be concentrated on evaluation of the innovative methodology for Morphotectonic Map of the European Lowland Area compilation. The team to be created will derive its knowledge from the experiences of best European research groups in the field concerned.

The synergy resulting from the joining of best European practices will make it possible to create the new quality in monitoring of large natural areas using multidisciplinary (paleogeographic, geostructural, tectonic, hydrogeological, geophysical) methods. After implementation of this project the PGI will co-ordinate the efforts on the map compilation.

The team is going to concentrate on the following problems, which have never been a subject of survey before:
- the influence of tectonic structures of different order in connection with multiphase flow of liquid in orogen on glacial process in Pleistocene,
- correlation of tele-detective and proximate methods as a tool of determining zones of peculiar frequent structural disturbances and testing its influence on the process of the hydrodynamic field formation and the mass movements in glacitectonic and neotectonic young-alpine structures,
- verification of the absolute dating methods of nuclear physics in natural environment condition survey,
- evaluation of the world new method of oil and gas deposits exploration.

The Morphotectonic Map of the European Lowland Area will show the activity of deep structures in connection with active surface and subsurface processes. Recognition of these processes, their exact timing and dating will contribute to the recognition of the natural environment and will enable to prepare the first forecasts of changes in human habitat.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
