Imagining Development: A multidisciplinary and multilevel analysis of development policies and their effect in the post-socialist world

Final Report Summary - PSDEV (Imagining Development: A multidisciplinary and multilevel analysis of development policies and their effect in the post-socialist world)

The main aim of this project is to establish, maintain and make sustainable a world class research group with a focus on (foreign and domestic) development policies in post-socialist spaces. This is done by engaging with several research and training activities that are intended to advance theoretical and empirical understanding of the regions involved.
The research envisaged by this project explores the way development (be this local or national, political or social) in a series of post-socialist states has been conceived, implemented and applied to different political, economic and geopolitical realities across the region and the response that has generated from this implementation.
The training aspect for researchers from all partners consists of a series of coordinated activities:
Secondment: researchers are seconded to another research institution with a different culture, approach, disciplinary focus and have to integrate into a new research team working on similar issues. Secondements are sequenced in a way to maximise interaction between researchers and, thus, foster the network aspect of the project and create opportunities for collaboration between the partners.
In addition all researchers will join network activities (workshops and conference panels) so as to create a platform for discussion and dialogue between scholars, research groups, and research institutions and find room for scientific collaboration and joint publication of articles and books.
Secondments and enhanced interaction are intended as a way to set up the basis for institutional agreements between partners and create bilateral and multilateral collaborations.
