Holographic applications of supergravity

Objective

In this project we will develop supergravity tools to study the strong coupled sectors of High Energy and Condensed Matter systems using the gauge gravity duality. We will first find, via consistent truncation, new large classes of lower-dimensional supergravity models that admit an exact string theory embedding, and will fully characterise and classify them. We will use these theories to propose, on the one hand, novel models of holographic superconductors and quantum critical points, and draw concrete string theory predictions about their properties. We will also use these model to pursue an all-time novel, holographic description of (quantum) turbulence. On the other hand, we will build supergravity models dual to large classes of field theories displaying phenomenologically realistic features like confinement and chiral symmetry breaking, thus considerably expanding the currently available string-derived QCD-like models.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
