Mid-Term Report Summary - NAT_CAT (Nature Inspired Transition Metal Catalysis)
We have generated a series of synthetic cages that can encapsulate metal complexes. By encapsulation of these metal complexes we can control their properties as catalyst, and as such, we have mimicked the working principle of enzymes. Next to that we have prepared nano spheres in which we can perform catalysis at extreme high local concentrations of catalyst (or catalyst and substrate), leading to new reactivity. These strategies are also explored for active sites extracted from nature and mimics thereof.
