Innovation Relay Centre Catalonia

Objective

The objective of the IRC-CAT proposal is to establish an Innovation Relay Centre that will cover the Autonomous Community of Catalonia, Spain. Catalonia is located in the north-east of the Iberian Peninsula, having 31,980 km2, a population of 6,207,533 and 55.000 registered enterprises, and accounting for 19% of Spanish GDP.IRC-CAT will provide cost-effective services that promote trans-national technology co-operation and which are both pertinent to regional needs and provided in synergy with national and regional support structures. IRC-CAT will focus on developing and maintaining a high level of IRC service quality in delivering successful transnational technology transfer (TTT) to the Catalan region whilst addressing capability deficits and encouraging the attainment of economic benefits for clientele through successful agreements. Furthermore, IRC-CAT will promote transnational dissemination and exploitation of the results of Community research, and including co-operation with EUREKA and ESA.IRC-CAT will stimulate the capacity of firms to adopt new technologies by establishing their needs and ability for transnational co-operation. IRC-CAT will provide other key services, such as signposting, which help promote innovation and transnational technology transfer. IRC-CAT will pursue possible synergies with other innovation networks, such as the Innovating Regions in Europe network. In order to carry out its work, IRC-CAT will substantially employ the resources of the IRC network. IRC-CAT will concentrate on SMEs as its principal target group, also targeting other organisations such as universities, research centres and, where appropriate, larger companies, as well as industry associations, technology advisors and other entities that have an interest in fostering innovation. IRC-CAT activities will maximise the synergies between its own objectives and those of CIDEM according to CIDEM'sI nnovation Plan for Catalonia (INNOCAT).
