Objective
The core goal of the ALDA project is the linking together of two independently proven technologies by the construction of the world's first tunnelled wave power demonstration scheme as a precursor to commercial development. This project is based on a completed design study, FEED, and on experiences gained from the previous construction and 5 years of operating the wave energy plant, LIMPET. Extensive studies have been conducted to establish the market potential and cost/risk comparison to other devices.
ALDA will be a pre-commercial demonstration to show ocean energy as a valuable supplement to other renewable energy resources, both in Europe and world-wide. The project proposes the construction of a shoreline energy plant based on previously tested OWC technology, but using an innovative, significantly more efficient construction layout. These coastal devices offer practical advantages and a site has been selected which satisfies all major criteria.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
