Objective
The EU has put considerable effort in creating a favourable legal framework for renewables (RES). However, RES heating and cooling has so far received less political attention. This market sector is heavily dominated by biomass (>98% share). New and innovative techniques for biomass heating and cooling are available that are environmentally safe and make biomass increasingly easy to handle. Uptake of these technologies is lagging, however, and a main factor of the EU's under-performance on the way to its 12% RES target. Main objective of BIOENERGY IN MOTION is to increase the uptake of new and innovative biomass heating & cooling technologies and systems in the EU, by strengthening the market confidence of specific target groups (end-users, investors, government authorities) in the EU in general and in three target countries (Bulgaria, Czech Republic and Estonia) in particular.
