ALTEREDUC; Virtual Campus for Renewable Energies; Création d'une Université du Bois-Énergie sur Internet

Objective

- To share resources in order to provide learning and training environments.
- To develop a set of Internet based tools and platforms that will share didactic materials, multimedia contents, and technical documents.
- To disseminate information on renewable energy sources and technologies, increasing confidence in technologies that are relatively unknown, and helping the sector to take off in marketing terms.
- To disseminate the results achieved and lessons learned in the individual projects and for other communities and expert practitioners to benefit from.
- To improve the content and multimedia material of two permanent exhibitions on renewable energies located in the UK and Spain.

Work-plan.
The cluster 12 is formed by three ALTENER II projects. Links between the projects are:
- The projects will share dissemination efforts and resources (web site, brochures, publications)
- Cooperation will give the three projects a wider spreading of the results.
- VCRE (192) and the Virtual University (256) will share the Virtual Campus as a valid tool to produce and deliver training courses.
- All the three projects will share the didactic material and multimedia elements.
- The cluster will provide a platform to disseminate the results of the projects.
- Permanent connections with computers located in other institutes and exhibitions to the Virtual Campus and the Virtual University.
* Media produced by all the partners will be used as additional material available through the Virtual campus and the Virtual University, subject to copyright issues.

Main milestones are:
- Telematic platform and tools. During the cluster start-up (months 1, 2), the project coordinators will define which elements (hardware, software, telecommunication resources) will be shared by the cluster, and under which conditions. They will agree a set of functional and technical specifications for these shared elements.
- Virtual Campus for Renewable Energies. The main expected result is not only a set of courses, but also an integrated platform with a set of tools, to dynamically implement and deliver education/training courses on Renewable Energies. The platform, its procedures and resources will be available to create education and training "Study Programmes", including vocational and company based training. Existing and future networks of universities, research and development entities, schools, companies and administrations will have a tool in their hands to let them concentrate more on content instead of the tool itself. During the project activities a complete "Study Programme" with one area of interest will be created and delivered.
- Dissemination & cluster web site. The projects must try to share publications, brochures, magazines, Web sites, links, etc. An Internet portal shared by the projects will include links to access the specific Web site of each project and their results, but with a common area where the services, activities and results will be shown under a common interface. It will allow the creation of a critical mass of users that would make the services and activities associated with the projects viable, once the projects are completed.
Achieved results of the cluster are:
- A telematic platform named Virtual Campus for Renewable Energies, containing a set of tools, to dynamically implement and deliver education/training courses on Renewable Energies. (http://www.dias-net.org/vcre/(opens in new window)). The first course is being delivered.
- Structure, resources and content for the "Virtual University of the Wood Energy" and its first course.
- Cluster web-site. (http://www.dias-net.org/altener-c12/(opens in new window)).
- Dissemination materials and activities.

Other anticipated results:
- A multimedia CD-ROM containing an explanation of the project results and virtual 3D visit to some RE installations.
- Foundation of a Virtual University of the Wood Energy.
- Two permanent exhibitions on Renewable Energies.
- A movie to promote the efficient use of energy and disseminate the Renewable Energy Sources.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
