The synthesis of naturally occurring Dendrobine and Dendroxine via Gold Catalysis

Final Activity Report Summary - GOLD (The synthesis of naturally occuring Dendrobine and Dendroxine via Gold Catalysis)

Despite the changing face of chemistry, the importance of synthesis - the ability to make molecules - has not diminished. However, the increasingly complex synthetic problems being posed by nature, medicine and materials demand new solutions to meet these challenges. To solve these problems we must challenge the traditional dogma that defines what we know about organic molecules and place great emphasis on creativity geared towards rapid, efficient and scalable assembly of these architectures.

This project has detailed new aspects of catalytic asymmetric synthesis using small molecule catalysts to generate molecules of structural and functional complexity that may have use in aiding the treatment of disease.
