FTP: from Vision to Reality - Implementing the Strategic Research Agenda

Objective

The Forest-based Sector Technology Platform (FTP) aims at establishing a European interface between research, industry, policy and practice via the implementation of its Strategic Research Agenda (SRA). This Specific Support Action (SSA) FTP:ViReality will support this process by facilitating the implementation of the SRA. The SRA describes the research areas on product development, manufacturing and processing, resource use and availability, multifunctional forestry, biodiversity, production of bio-energy and energy efficiency as well as the forest based sector?s role within the European Society.
The SRA's content was developed in a network of more than 1000 stakeholders representing all relevant bodies from five different forest based value chains: forestry, pulp and paper, wood products, bioenergy and specialities. This network will be further developed and utilised for the implementation.
In the framework of this SSA the following activities are planned in order to achieve the objectives:
Communication activities, development of the SRA into programmes and projects, mapping of research funding and capacities, interactions with projects and initiatives outside the SRA, and monitoring of the progress and follow-up of the implementation of the SRA after the 18 months of this SSA project.
Organising conferences, workshops, seminars, expert and stakeholder meetings both within the FTP as well as with other Technology Platforms, policy makers, authorities, funding bodies and society, will support to achieve the objectives of this project.
Major conferences in addressing the whole sector, specific seminars and workshops and the raising of the awareness towards ongoing training and education activities within the forest-based sector will contribute to the objectives of this SSA...
