INTEGRATION OF MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS FOR MASS-MANUFACTURE OF MINIATURE/MICRO-PRODUCTS

Objective

The overall objective of the project is to develop an integrated solution for European miniature/micro- manufacturing and related industries - an integrated manufacturing facility for mass-manufacture of miniature/micro-products, and a technology transfer/training package for transforming EU industries. A multi- discipline (horizontally) and integration (vertically) approach will be used for the implementation of the project, based on the mobilisation of the sufficient critical mass of resources. Research will be conducted to resolve fundamental and technological issues concerning the mass-manufacture of miniature/micro-products with a scale of manufacture, which has not been achieved, so far, by any organisations. Demonstration of the mass- manufacturing facility to be developed will be subjected to validation trials and production applications; knowledge and technologies generated will directly be transferred to the targeted groups, which will be effected by organising three demonstrations, four training-programmes and two major public events.

The project will result in significant numbers of innovations, which will represent breakthroughs - innovative, flexible and intelligent tools, machines, and handling-devices concepts and designs for miniature/micro- forming and machining; first, integrated manufacturing facility for mass-manufacture of miniature/micro-products which incorporates high-rate material-conversion technologies into the systems. The development addresses the objectives of the call "FP62002-NMP-1" which gives emphasis on the "New production concepts, supporting new products, processes and services", "Industrial systems of the future", "Transformation of the European industry towards a more knowledge-based and added value industry" and "Improved competitiveness and sustainability". The proposed development will place European micro-manufacturing in the pole position in this emerging manufacturing sector.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
