Objective The objectives of the proposal are the following. First, it is aimed to develop mathematical models to describe, by means of evolution equations of kinetic type, the development of tumours and the interaction/competition between tumour and the immune system. Second, we aim to investigate the qualitative analysis of the mathematical models derived. This includes the development of algorithms for the numerical simulation of the competition between tumour and immune cells. The modelling part of the proposal should be performed by methods from non-equilibrium statistical mechanics. The qualitative analysis uses tools form kinetic theory and non-linear functional analysis. This proposal involves highly sophisticated mathematical methods and will hopefully provide a useful support to biological experiments.
